What is Desonate?
Desonate is a topical steroid that is used to treat a skin condition called atopic dermatitis, which is characterized by chronic inflammation of the skin.What is the most important information I should know about Desonate?
Desonate is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.Desonate can cause a serious side effect involving certain glands and hormones in the body. This may happen if you use too much Desonate or if you use it for too long, but it can happen with correct use as well. Your doctor may perform tests to monitor for this side effect while you are on Desonate.
Who should not take Desonate?
Do not use Desonate if you are allergic to it or any of its components.What should I tell my doctor before I take the first dose of Desonate?
Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Desonate. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have Cushing's syndrome, diabetes, or liver problems.What is the usual dosage?
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.Adults and children ≥3 months: Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas twice daily.
How should I take Desonate?
Do not use Desonate for any disorder other than that for which it was prescribed.Apply a thin layer of Desonate to the affected areas and rub in gently. The treated skin should not be bandaged or otherwise covered or wrapped, unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
This medication should not be used on the underarm or groin areas of children, unless directed by the physician. Do not use Desonate to treat diaper rash or apply it in the diaper area, as diapers or plastic pants may cause the medication to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Discontinue therapy when the treated area returns to normal. If no improvement is seen within 4 weeks, contact your physician. Treatment should not exceed 4 consecutive weeks.
What should I avoid while taking Desonate?
Avoid using other corticosteroid-containing products while using Desonate, unless your doctor directs you to do so.What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Desonate?
If Desonate is used with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Desonate with other skin creams, lotions, or gels, and steroids such as prednisone.What are the possible side effects of Desonate?
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.Side effects may include: acne, burning or itching at the site where the medication is applied, headache, infection, inflammation of the follicles, rash

Can I receive Desonate if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
The effects of Desonate during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.What should I do if I miss a dose of Desonate?
If you miss a dose of Desonate, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply two doses at once.How should I store Desonate?
Store at room temperature.
