  • What is Dovonex Scalp?

    Dovonex solution is used to treat the scaly skin condition known as psoriasis. Dovonex is a form of vitamin D.

  • What is the most important information I should know about Dovonex Scalp?

    When you use Dovonex, some of the medication may be absorbed through your skin and into your bloodstream. Excessive use of Dovonex can lead to elevated levels of calcium in the blood. Your doctor may recommend stopping Dovonex until the normal levels of calcium are restored.

    If skin irritation develops, tell your doctor and stop using Dovonex.

    Avoid excessive exposure to either natural or artificial sunlight (including tanning booths and sunlamps).

  • Who should not take Dovonex Scalp?

    Avoid Dovonex if you are allergic to calcipotriene or to any of the ingredients of Dovonex, if you are suffering from vitamin D toxicity, or if you have high levels of calcium in the blood.

    Do not use Dovonex if you have acute eruptions of psoriasis.

    Dovonex is not approved for use in children.

  • What should I tell my doctor before I take the first dose of Dovonex Scalp?

    Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with this drug. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have acute eruptions of psoriasis, high levels of calcium in the blood, vitamin D toxicity, are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

  • What is the usual dosage?

    The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.

    Adults: Apply Dovonex solution twice daily only to the lesions and rub it in gently and completely.

  • How should I take Dovonex Scalp?

    First comb your hair to remove scaly debris, then gently and completely rub the scalp solution into the affected areas. Avoid getting Dovonex on your forehead or on unaffected parts of the scalp.

    Wash your hands after each application.

  • What should I avoid while taking Dovonex Scalp?

    Dovonex is for external use only. Avoid contact with the face or eyes.

    Avoid excessive exposure to either natural or artificial sunlight (including tanning booths and sunlamps).

  • What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Dovonex Scalp?

    No significant interactions have been reported with Dovonex. However, always tell your doctor about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

  • What are the possible side effects of Dovonex Scalp?

    Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.

    Side effects may include: burning, stinging, tingling, rash, dry skin, skin irritation, worsening of psoriasis

  • Can I receive Dovonex Scalp if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

    The effects of Dovonex during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, Dovonex should be used only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the unborn child. Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

  • What should I do if I miss a dose of Dovonex Scalp?

    If you miss a dose of Dovonex, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

  • How should I store Dovonex Scalp?

    Store at room temperature. Do not freeze. Keep away from sunlight.
