More common side effects may include: burning, itching, inflammation of your hair follicles.
Less common side effects may include:
Adrenal insufficiency (a disorder where the body does not make enough of certain hormones), with symptoms such as tiredness that worsens and does not go away, nausea or vomiting, dizziness or fainting, muscle weakness, irritability and depression, loss of appetite, or weight loss.
Cushing's syndrome (a hormone disorder), with symptoms such as weight gain, especially around your upper back and midsection; slow healing of cuts, insect bites, and infections; tiredness and muscle weakness; depression, anxiety, and irritability; roundness of your face (moon face); or new or worsening high blood pressure.
High blood sugar, with symptoms such as excessive thirst, an increase in urination, increased appetite, weakness, confusion, fruity smelling breath, or feeling sick to your stomach.
Skin reactions, with symptoms such as irritation, changes in your skin color, or an infection.
Who should not take this medication?Do not use Elocon lotion if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
What should I tell my healthcare provider before I take the first dose of this medication?Tell your healthcare provider about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Elocon lotion. Also, talk to your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, especially if you have a skin infection.
What is the usual dosage?The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your healthcare provider uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your healthcare provider may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your healthcare provider's approval.
Adults and children ≥12 years: Apply a few drops once a day to the affected area(s) and massage lightly until it disappears.
How should I take this medication?Use Elocon lotion exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not use it more often or stop using it without first talking to your healthcare provider.
If you do not see an improvement in your condition in 2 weeks, call your healthcare provider.
What should I avoid while taking this medication?Do not get Elocon lotion in your eyes, or on your face, underarms, or groin area.
Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the treated skin area unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.
Do not use Elocon lotion to treat your child's diaper rash.
What are the possible food and drug interactions associated with this medication?No significant interactions have been reported with Elocon lotion at this time. However, always tell your healthcare provider about any medicines you take, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
May I receive this medication if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?The effects of Elocon lotion during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your healthcare provider immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
What should I do if I miss a dose of this medication?If you miss a dose of Elocon lotion, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply two doses at once.
How should I store this medication?Store at room temperature.
