    Locoid Lipocream is a topical cream (applied to the skin surface) that is used for the relief of inflammation and itching of certain skin conditions in adults. Also, it is used to treat mild to moderate eczema in children and teenagers.

  • What is the most important information I should know about Locoid Lipocream?

    Locoid Lipocream is for external use only. Do not use it in your eyes, mouth, face, underarms, groin areas, or vagina.

    Locoid Lipocream can have a greater effect on children because they are more likely to absorb large amounts of the medicine through the skin. Long-term use can affect the growth and development of children. Talk to your doctor if you think your child is not growing at a normal rate after using this medication for a long period of time. The safety and effects of using Locoid Lipocream beyond four weeks in children are unknown.

    Locoid Lipocream should not be applied in the diaper area, as diapers or plastic pants may be occlusive dressings.

    Do not use Locoid Lipocream for any other condition other than that which your doctor has prescribed.

    Contact your doctor if you notice irritation or any skin reactions in the area being treated or if your condition does not improve within two weeks of treatment.

    Adults: Apply a thin film to the affected area(s) 2-3 times a day depending on the severity of your condition and rub in gently.

    Atopic Dermatitis

    Children 3 months-18 years: Apply a thin film to the affected area(s) twice a day and rub in gently.

  • How should I take Locoid Lipocream?

    Apply Locoid Lipocream exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if you see no improvement within two weeks of treatment.

  • What should I avoid while taking Locoid Lipocream?

    Do not use Locoid Lipocream in your eyes, mouth, face, underarms, groin areas, or vagina.

    Do not bandage, cover, or wrap the treated skin area as to be occlusive unless directed by your doctor to do so.

    Side effects may include: abnormal hair growth, acne (pimples), burning, dryness, infections, inflamed hair follicles, irritation, itching, loss of skin color, redness of skin, skin inflammation, stretch marks, sweat rash, thinning of your skin layers

    The effects of Locoid Lipocream during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

  • What should I do if I miss a dose of Locoid Lipocream?

    If you miss a dose of Locoid Lipocream, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply two doses at once.
