Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Mucinex. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have or had a persistent or chronic cough, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cough accompanied by too much mucus, or if you smoke.What is the usual dosage?
The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.Adults and children ≥12 years: Take 1 or 2 tablets every 12 hours. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
How should I take Mucinex?
Mucinex should be taken with a full glass of water, with or without a meal. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.Stop taking Mucinex and contact your doctor if your cough lasts for more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with a fever, rash, or persistent headaches.
What should I avoid while taking Mucinex?
Avoid being dehydrated while taking Mucinex. It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids when treating cough and congestion.What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Mucinex?
If Mucinex is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Mucinex with any other drugs, herbs, or supplements.Can I receive Mucinex if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
