    Prilosec OTC?

    This drug is not intended for immediate relief of heartburn. It may take 1 to 4 days for full effect.

    Do not use this product if you are allergic to omeprazole.

    Do not use this product if you have trouble or pain swallowing food, vomiting with blood, or bloody or black stools. These may be signs of a serious condition. See your doctor.

    Stop using this product and ask a doctor if your heartburn continues or worsens, you need to take this product for more than 14 days, you get diarrhea, or you need to take more than 1 course of the treatment every 4 months.

    Keep this product out of the reach of children. In the case of an overdose, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.

    Ask a doctor before using this product if you have had heartburn for over 3 months. This may be a sign of a more serious condition.

    Ask a doctor before using this product if you have heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating, or dizziness; chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath; sweating spreading to the arms, neck, or shoulders; lightheadedness; frequent chest pain; frequent wheezing, particularly with heartburn; unexplained weight loss; nausea or vomiting; or stomach pain.

    Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are taking warfarin, clopidogrel, or cilostazol (blood-thinning medicines), prescription antifungal or anti-yeast-medicines; diazepam (anxiety medicine); digoxin (heart medicine); tracrolimus (immune system medicine); or prescription antiretrovirals (medicines for HIV infection).

    Ask a health professional before taking this product if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

    Side effects cannot always be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.

    Do not take this product for more than 14 days or more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor.

    If Prilosec OTC is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. Always check with your doctor before combining Prilosec OTC with any other medication.
  • What is the usual dosage of Prilosec OTC?

    Adults and children 18 years: Swallow 1 tablet with a glass of water before eating in the morning. Take every day for 14 days. Do not take more than 1 tablet a day. Swallow whole and do not chew or crush the tablets. Do not crush the tablets in food. Do not use this product for more than 14 days unless directed by your doctor.

    You may repeat a 14-day course every 4 months. Do not take this product more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor.

    Store at room temperature. Keep this product out of high heat and humidity. Protect from moisture.
