  • What is this medication?

    RID Lice Killing Shampoo contains lice treatments. It is intended for treating head, pubic, and body lice. RID Home Lice Control Spray also contains a lice treatment. It is intended to kill lice and their eggs on mattresses, furniture, car interiors, and other non-washable items.
  • Are there any warnings associated with RID Complete Kit?

    For RID Lice Killing Shampoo:

    This product is for external use only.

    Do not use this product near the eyes.

    Do not use this product inside the mouth, nose, or vagina.

    Do not use this product on lice in the eyebrows or eyelashes. See a doctor if lice are present in these areas.

    When using this product, keep eyes closed tightly and protect the eyes with a washcloth or towel.

    If the product gets into eyes, flush them immediately with water.

    Scalp itching and redness may occur.

    Stop using the product and talk to a doctor if breathing difficulty, eye irritation, or infection occurs or if skin or scalp irritation continues.

    Keep this product out of the reach of children. If the product is swallowed, obtain medical help or contact a poison control center immediately.

    For RID Home Lice Control Spray:

    This product is not for use on humans.

    This product is harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin.

    Avoid inhalation of the spray mist.

    Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing.

    Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling.

    Avoid contamination of feed and foodstuffs.

    Remove pets and birds, and cover fish aquariums before spraying spaces or surfaces.

    Vacate the room after treatment, and ventilate the room before reoccupying. Do not allow children or pets to contact treated areas until surfaces are dry.

    Contents are under pressure. Do not use or store near heat or open flame. Do not puncture or incinerate the container. Exposure to temperatures above 130 degrees Fahrenheit may cause bursting.

    For first aid, call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have the product container or label with you when calling a poison control center or when obtaining medical treatment.

    If swallowed, immediately call a poison control center or a doctor. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by the poison control center or doctor. Do not give liquid to the person. Do not give or anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

    If the product gets in the eye, hold the eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15 to 20 minutes. If wearing contact lenses, remove them after 5 minutes, then continue rinsing the eye.

    If the product is inhaled, move the person to fresh air. If the person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably by mouth-to-mouth if possible.

    If the product is on skin or clothing, remove contaminated clothing and rinse skin immediately with water for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Keep this product out of the reach of children.

    For RID Lice Killing Shampoo:

    Talk to a doctor if lice are present in the eyebrows or eyelashes. Do not use this product on those areas.

    Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are allergic to ragweed. This product may cause breathing difficulty or an asthmatic attack.

    Talk to a doctor about using this product in children under the age of 2.

    For RID Home Lice Control Spray:

    If you have asthma or severe allergies, consult your doctor before using this product, and have someone else apply it.

    For RID Lice Killing Shampoo:

    This product may cause difficulty breathing or an asthma attack.

    Itching or redness on the scalp may occur when using this product.

    Side effects cannot always be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue using this drug.

    For RID Home Lice Control Spray:

    This product causes eye irritation.

  • What are possible food and drug interactions associated with RID Complete Kit?

    If RID Complete Kit is used with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. Always check with your doctor before combining RID Complete Kit with any other medication.
  • What is the usual dosage of RID Complete Kit?

    For RID Lice Killing Shampoo:

    For adults and children 2 years:

    Read warnings before use. All household members should be checked with a magnifying glass for lice and lice eggs (nits). If either is found, treat with this product. Apply the RID Lice Killing Shampoo thoroughly to dry hair or other affected areas. For head lice, first apply behind the ears and on the back of the neck. Leave on product for 10 minutes, but no longer. Use warm water to form a lather, shampoo, then thoroughly rinse. If treating head lice, towel-dry the hair and comb out tangles.

    Remove nits from damp hair with a fine-toothed or special lice/nit comb, using the accompanying RID Lice and Egg Comb-Out Kit. Hair should remain slightly damp while removing nits. If hair dries during combing, dampen slightly with water. Comb hair one section at a time, starting on the top of the head.

    A second treatment must be done in 7 to 10 days to kill any newly hatched lice. If infestation continues, see a doctor for other treatments.

    For children <2 years: Ask a doctor.

    For RID Home Lice Control Spray:

    This product is not for use on humans.

    To use the product, shake well before using, remove the protective cap, and hold the container upright and spray from a distance of 8 to 10 inches. Do not use on sheets or pillowcases. Only spray on garments and parts of bedding, including mattresses and furniture that cannot be laundered or dry-cleaned.

    For RID Lice Killing Shampoo:

    Store at room temperature. Protect from excessive heat. Keep the carton for product information.

    For RID Home Lice Control Spray:

    Store in a cool, dry area away from children and pets and away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Do not transport or store below 32 degrees F.
