Who should not take Flexeril?
Return to topDo not take Flexeril if you are taking antidepressant drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as phenelzine or tranylcypromine or if you have taken an MAOI within the last 2 weeks. Avoid Flexeril if you are allergic to it or if you have an overactive thyroid gland.
Do not take Flexeril if you have recently had a heart attack, if you have chronic heart failure, or suffer from an irregular heartbeat.
What should I tell my doctor before I take the first dose of Flexeril?

Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you are elderly, have liver disease, have ever had the eye condition called glaucoma, or if you have ever been unable to urinate. Adults: The usual dose of Flexeril is 5 milligrams (mg) taken 3 times a day. The dose may be increased to 10 mg taken 3 times a day.
How should I take Flexeril?

Flexeril may cause dry mouth. Sucking a hard candy, chewing gum, or melting ice chips in your mouth can provide temporary relief.
