What is Inderide?
Return to topInderide is used to treat high blood pressure. It combines a beta-blocker with a diuretic (water pill). Beta-blockers decrease the force and rate of heart contractions, thus lowering blood pressure. Diuretics help your body produce and eliminate more urine, which also helps lower blood pressure.
What is the most important information I should know about Inderide?
Return to topDo not suddenly stop taking Inderide without speaking to your doctor. Worsening of chest pain, and in some cases, heart attacks, have been reported. If you are stopping Inderide, gradually reduce the dose over at least a few weeks.
If you have high blood pressure, you must take Inderide regularly to be effective. Since blood pressure declines gradually, it may be several weeks before you get the full benefit of Inderide. You must continue taking it even if you are feeling well. Inderide does not cure high blood pressure; it only keeps it under control.
Who should not take Inderide?

Also, do not use Inderide if you have any of the following conditions: asthma, certain types of irregular heartbeat, chronic heart failure, inadequate blood supply to the circulatory system (cardiogenic shock), difficulty urinating, slow heartbeat

Adults: The usual dose is 1 Inderide tablet taken twice a day. Your doctor will tailor your dosage according to your response to the main ingredient in Inderide. Your doctor may use Inderide in combination with other high blood pressure drugs to achieve the desired effect.
This drug is also available in a sustained-release formulation, called Inderide LA, for once-a-day dosing.
The safety and effectiveness of Inderide in children have not been established.
How should I take Inderide?

It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Inderide with the following: adrenocorticotropic hormone, alcohol, aluminum hydroxide gel, antipyrine, calcium-blocking drugs such as verapamil, chlorpromazine, cimetidine, corticosteroids such as prednisone, haloperidol, insulin, lidocaine, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen, norepinephrine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, reserpine, rifampin, theophylline, thyroxine, and tubocurarine.
What are the possible side effects of Inderide?

Side effects may include: allergic reactions, blood disorders, chronic heart failure, depression, inflammation of the pancreas, light-headedness, low blood pressure, nausea, slow heartbeat, vomiting
Can I receive Inderide if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Return to topThe effects of Inderide during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while taking Inderide.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Inderide?
