What is the most important information I should know about Moban?
Return to topMoban can cause tardive dyskinesia, a serious sometimes irreversible movement disorder that causes involuntary movements of muscles. The risk for tardive dyskinesia is higher in the elderly and for women. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any involuntary muscle movements while taking Moban.
Moban can also cause another serious, sometime fatal, disorder known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome, characterized by muscle stiffness, increased body temperature, sweating, changes in mood or consciousness, and a rapid or irregular heartbeat. If you experience any of these symptoms while taking Moban, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
Moban is not to be used with other agents that cause central nervous system depression, such as alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotic pain killers.
Moban should not be used in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis, since this puts them at an increased risk of serious side effects, including death.
Who should not take Moban?

What is the usual dosage?

Adults and children 12 years and older: The usual starting dose is 50 milligrams (mg) to 75 mg per day. Your doctor may increase your dose to 100 mg after 3-4 days of treatment. Based on your individual condition, your dose may be further increased up to 225 mg per day. The dose is usually divided in three to four intervals.
