Return to topAcipHex is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), secretion problems like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and with clarithromycin and amoxicillin for ulcers of the small intestine. GERD is caused by the constant backflow of stomach acid into your throat. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome occurs when the stomach begins to produce too much acid.
Also, AcipHex is sometimes combined with the antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin to treat infections caused by H. pylori, a type of bacteria that lives in the digestive tract and is often associated with recurrent ulcers.
What is the most important information I should know about AcipHex?
Return to topTo treat ulcers of the small intestine, AcipHex should not be taken with clarithromycin if you are pregnant. Clarithromycin may cause harm to the unborn child. Amoxicillin should not be taken at the same time as penicillin; this combination may have a fatal interaction.

Adults: The recommended dose is one 20 milligrams (mg) delayed-release tablet taken once daily for 4-8 weeks.
Healing of Duodenal Ulcers
Adults: The recommended dose is one 20 mg delayed-release tablet to be taken once daily after the morning meal for a period up to 4 weeks.
Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
Adults: The recommended dose is 60 mg once per day.
How should I take AcipHex?
