What is the usual dosage?

The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.

Adults and children ≥12 years: Apply Benzamycin Pak twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, or as directed by your doctor.

The safety and effectiveness of Benzamycin Pak have not been established in children less than 12 years of age.


How should I take Benzamycin Pak?

Apply Benzamycin Pak twice daily, morning and evening, or as directed by your physician to the affected area. Before applying Benzamycin Pak, thoroughly wash the affected skin with soap and warm water, rinse well, and pat dry.

Benzamycin Pak is dispensed in one foil pouch which contains medication in 2 separated compartments. The contents of each pouch must be mixed thoroughly in the palm of your hand prior to application. Apply the product immediately after mixing and wash your hands.

What should I avoid while taking Benzamycin Pak?

Benzamycin Pak is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and all mucous membranes. Avoid or minimize exposure to natural or artificial sunlight (tanning beds or UVA/UVB treatment). Benzamycin may bleach hair or colored fabric; avoid getting it on your clothes.


What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Benzamycin Pak?

If Benzamycin Pak is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Benzamycin Pak with any other prescription or over-the-counter acne remedy.

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.

Side effects may include: dry skin and swelling


Can I receive Benzamycin Pak if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

The effects of Benzamycin Pak during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. It is not known whether the ingredients of Benzamycin Pak appear in breast milk after topical use. However, erythromycin is excreted in human milk if it is taken orally or by injection. Talk with your doctor before taking this drug if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.


What should I do if I miss a dose of Benzamycin Pak?

If you miss a dose of Benzamycin Pak, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
