What is Flo-Pred?

Flo- Pred is a corticosteroid used to treat many different allergic or inflammatory disorders, including skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, and breathing disorders. It is also used for certain cancers and as immunosuppressant therapy after organ transplantation. Flo-Pred can be used for conditions affecting many different parts of the body, including the skin, gastrointestinal tract, blood, eyes, nervous system, kidneys, lungs, and glands.

What is the most important information I should know about Flo-Pred?

Corticosteroids may increase the risk of infections. Do not discontinue the use of Flo- Pred abruptly or without medical supervision.

Who should not take Flo-Pred?

Do not take Flo-Pred if you are sensitive to prednisolone or any component of this product. You must also avoid this drug if you are suffering from any infection or if you are taking immunosuppressant doses of corticosteroids.

What should I tell my doctor before I take the first dose of Flo-Pred?

Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Flo-Pred. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you currently have any infections, high blood pressure, gastrointestinal disorders, behavioral and mood disorders, and eye problems like cataracts or glaucoma. In addition, let your doctor know if you are scheduled to receive any vaccines.

What is the usual dosage?

The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.

Adults and pediatric patients: The doctor will base the dosage on the severity of your condition as well as your response.

How should I take Flo-Pred?

Take Flo-Pred with food as prescribed by your doctor.

What should I avoid while taking Flo-Pred?

If you are receiving a large dose of Flo-Pred, you should not receive certain vaccines (such as the smallpox vaccine). Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles. Do not abruptly stop taking this medication.

What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Flo-Pred?

If Flo-Pred is taken with certain drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Flo-Pred with the following: aminoglutethimide, amphotericin B, anticholinesterase agents, blood thinners, diabetes medications, drugs used to treat tuberculosis, barbiturates, phenytoin, ephedrine, rifampin, carbamazepine, ketoconazole, macrolide antibiotics, cholestyramine, cyclosporine, heart medications, estrogens including oral contraceptives, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents including aspirin, potassium-depleting agents (such as diuretics), and certain vaccines.

What are the possible side effects of Flo-Pred?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.

Side effects may include: elevated pressure in the eye, cataracts, fluid retention, change in blood sugar tolerance, high blood pressure, behavioral and mood changes, increased appetite and weight gain, allergic reactions

Signs of severe allergic reactions may include hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the throat. If any of these occur, seek immediate medical attention.

Flo- Pred may also mask the presence of infections.

Can I receive Flo-Pred if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Flo-Pred should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Flo-Pred?

Ask your doctor for advice. Do not take an extra dose to make up for the one you missed.

How should I store Flo-Pred?

Store at room temperature.
