What is Perforomist?

Perforomist Inhalation Solution is used long term, twice a day (morning and evening) to control symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults.


What is the most important information I should know about Perforomist?

In patients with asthma, long-acting beta-agonist medicines may increase the chance of death from asthma.

Perforomist does not relieve sudden symptoms.

Do not stop using Perforomist unless told to do so by your healthcare provider.


Who should not take Perforomist?

Do not take Perforomist if you are suffering from status asthmaticus or an acute attack of asthma, or if you are allergic to Perforomist or any of its ingredients.


What should I tell my doctor before I take the first dose of Perforomist?

Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Perforomist. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have a history of status asthmaticus, have heart or liver problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, seizures, thyroid problems, are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.


What is the usual dosage?

The information below is based on the dosage guidelines your doctor uses. Depending on your condition and medical history, your doctor may prescribe a different regimen. Do not change the dosage or stop taking your medication without your doctor's approval.

Adults: The usual dosage of Perforomist is one ready-to-use vial twice a day inhaled through a nebulizer.


How should I take Perforomist?

Perforomist Inhalation solution is only used in a standardized jet nebulizer machine connected to an air compressor. Make sure you know how to use your nebulizer machine before you use with Perforomist inhalation solution. Connect the nebulizer to the compressor. Sit in a comfortable upright position. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth or put on the face mask and turn the compressor on. Breathe in as calmly and deeply as possible through your mouth until no more mist is formed. The average nebulization time is 9 minutes.


What should I avoid while taking Perforomist?

Do not use to treat asthma. Do not use more than 2 vials of Perforomist per day.


What are possible food and drug interactions associated with Perforomist?

If Perforomist is used with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Perforomist with the following: other long-acting beta2-agonist drugs, adrenergic drugs, diuretics, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, and steroids.


What are the possible side effects of Perforomist?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.

Side effects may include: allergic reactions, fast irregular heart beat, headache, high blood sugar, high blood acid, low blood potassium, nervousness, tremors

Signs of severe allergic reactions may include hives, dry mouth, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the throat. If any of these events occur, seek immediate medical attention.


Can I receive Perforomist if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Perforomist is to be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


What should I do if I miss a dose of Perforomist?

If you miss a dose of Perforomist, just skip that dose. Take the next regular dose. Do not take 2 doses at one time.


How should I store Perforomist?

Store Perforomist Inhalation Solution in a refrigerator in the protective foil pouch or at room temperature for up to 3 months. If not used within 3 months, discard.
