What is Taclonex Scalp?
Return to topTaclonex Scalp is a topical liquid used to treat scalp psoriasis in adults. It contains a strong corticosteroid (betamethasone) and a drug that is somewhat similar to vitamin D (calcipotriene hydrate).
What is the most important information I should know about Taclonex Scalp?
Return to topTaclonex Scalp should not be used on the face or groin areas. Do not use on areas of thin skin. It is for external use only.
Do not combine with other products containing calcipotriene or a corticosteroid without first talking to your doctor.
You should use Taclonex Scalp with caution if you are getting phototherapy treatments (light therapy) for your psoriasis or if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight or artificial sunlight (tanning booths, sunlamps, etc.).
Taclonex Scalp is not recommended for use in children. It has not been studied in people less than 18 years old.
Who should not take Taclonex Scalp?
Return to topDo not use Taclonex Scalp if you have a calcium metabolism disorder, severe kidney or liver disease, or one of the following types of psoriasis: erythrodermic psoriasis, exfoliative psoriasis, or pustular psoriasis.

Talk to your doctor if you have thin skin (atrophy) at the site that needs to be treated.
What is the usual dosage?

Adults: Apply the liquid to affected areas on the scalp once daily for 2 weeks or until cleared. Treatment may be continued for up to 8 weeks.
How should I take Taclonex Scalp?
Return to topUse Taclonex Scalp exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use more than the maximum recommended weekly amount of 100 grams. Do not use Taclonex Scalp for more than 8 weeks unless prescribed by your doctor.
Apply the liquid only on your scalp. Do not apply it to your face, armpits, or groin area. If you accidentally get the medication on your face or in your eyes, wash the area with water right away.
Wash your hands well after using Taclonex Scalp. Do not wash your hair right after applying the medication.
What should I avoid while taking Taclonex Scalp?
Return to topAvoid spending a long time in sunlight, and also avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear a hat when you are outside. Talk to your doctor if you get a sunburn.
