What is the usual dosage?

Adults: Zemplar capsules may be taken daily or three times a week. When treated three times weekly, the dose should be given no more frequently than every other day.

Return to topIf Zemplar is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Zemplar with the following: atazanavir, clarithromycin, indinavir, itraconazole, ketoconazole, nefazodone, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir, telithromycin, or voriconazole.
What are the possible side effects of Zemplar?

Side effects may include: allergic reaction, back pain, chest pain, fever, flu, fungal/bacterial infections, headache, pain, stomach pain, viral infection
Symptoms of vitamin D overdose: Early signs and symptoms include bone pain, constipation, dry mouth, headache, nausea/vomiting, metallic taste, muscle pain, sleeplessness, weakness; late signs and symptoms include eye infection, itchiness, light sensitivity, nasal infection, weight loss/loss of appetite
Can I receive Zemplar if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Return to topThe effects of Zemplar during pregnancy and breastfeeding are unknown. Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Zemplar?
Return to topTake it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
