  • What is this medication?

    Triaminic Day Time Cold and Cough contains a cough suppressant and a nasal decongestant. It is intended to temporarily relieve nasal and sinus congestion, and cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold.
  • Are there any warnings associated with Triaminic Day Time Cold and Cough?

    Do not use this product in children <4 years.

    Do not use this product in a child who is taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. MAOIs are sometimes used for treating Parkinson's disease or depression, as well as other emotional or psychiatric conditions.

    When using this product, do not exceed the recommended dosage. Do not give more than 6 doses of this product in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor.

    Stop using this product and consult a doctor if nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occurs; symptoms do not improve within 7 days or occur with a fever; or the cough persists for more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with a fever, rash, or persistent headache. These could be signs of a serious condition.

    Keep this product out of the reach of children. In the event of an overdose, get medical help or contact a poison control center right away.

    Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you do not know whether a prescription drug your child is taking contains an MAOI.

    Talk to a doctor before using this product if the child has heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, a cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus), or a chronic cough that lasts or as occurs with asthma.

    Side effects cannot always be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue using this drug.

    Do not give more than 6 doses of this product in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor.

    If Triaminic Day Time Cold and Cough is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. Always check with your doctor before combining Triaminic Day Time Cold and Cough with any other medication.

    This product may be given every 4 hours. Do not give more than 6 doses of this product in 24 hours unless directed by a doctor.

    Children 6- <12 years: Take 2 teaspoonfuls (10 milliliters, or mL) or, if using the thin strips, allow 2 strips to dissolve on the tongue.

    Children 4- <6 years: Take 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) or if using the thin strips, allow 1 strip to dissolve on the tongue.

    Children <4 years: Do not use.
